Rakhi Celebration

Raksha Bandhan celebration is of love between sisters and brothers and boosting brotherhood. This festival isn't a ritual, tradition and custom which could alter over time but its own type of party is now modern. From the past all the customs of Rakhi are followed using the same enthusiasm. Rakhi festival is the celebration of the pure bond of love among the siblings.

In reality, India is internationally famous for its vibrant festivals and ever-green heritages. Celebrated with various rituals, household get-together and with sweets, Raksha Bandhan is all about thoughts, love and pleasure. Siblings used to begin preparation for this particular festival a month prior to the commencement of Raksha Bandhan. Sisters starts buying Rakhis and gifts for their brothers from markets. The markets and almost all the shops in the market also gets decorated with various colorful Rakhi gifts and with various types of colorful, vibrant, gorgeous and beautiful Rakhis. Ladies used to shop Rakhis, new clothes and gorgeous rakhi gifts especially the one that need to be delivered to their brothers staying far. 

The pious day starts from early morning after taking shower, brothers and sisters gets prepared by wearing new clothes and worshiped God and deities. Sisters prepared a Thali containing Diya, Chawal (uncooked rice), Roli and especially Rakhi. Sisters performed a Arti of the brother and puts a tika with Roli and Chawal on the brother’s forehead and ties the Rakhi on brothers wrist and prays of brother’s protection and wellbeing. Sisters and brothers both offer and exchange sweets to each other. In return, brothers offer their blessings to sisters and give them gifts with a vow of protecting their sisters from any from any peril. Post ritual, the entire family and all siblings gathers and celebrate the day sharing good food, party and gifts to make the day memorable. Siblings staying far exchange their love and emotions by sharing letters, messages and over phone.

The great poet, Rabindra Nath Tagore started 'Rakhi Mahotsavas' in Shantiniketan, situated in Birbhum district, West Bengal to propagate the sense of brotherhood among individuals. He considered that the ceremony will bring feeling and trust of peaceful coexistence in the society.
