Ladies used to shop Rakhis, new clothes and gorgeous rakhi gifts especially the one that need to be delivered to their brothers staying far.
The great poet, Rabindra Nath Tagore started 'Rakhi Mahotsavas' in Shantiniketan, situated in Birbhum district, West Bengal to propagate the sense of brotherhood among individuals. He considered that the ceremony will bring feeling and trust of peaceful coexistence in the society.
